What is Pi Network?
Pi Network is a new cryptocurrency that is mined exclusively on mobile phones. However, it introduces a new form of digital coin mining that doesn’t consume CPU resources like other mining apps. Other mining apps, such as ETN, use CPU power to decode algorithms (ETN uses the cryptonight algorithm). In contrast, with PI Network, you won’t feel any heat while mining on your phone. You can even turn off the app or disconnect from the network and still mine; you just need to open the app every 24 hours and click on the Power icon (the lightning bolt symbol) to continue mining.
Pi Network is developed by doctors and professors from Stanford University to bring cryptocurrency to a wider audience through a simple app that anyone can use. The core team of Pi includes:
- Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis: Head of Technology
- Department Dr. Chengdiao Fan: Head of Product Department
- Vincent McPhillip: Head of Community Department
In particular, Nicolas Kokkalis is regarded as the ‘soul’ of Pi Network. He is a Greek professor currently teaching at Stanford University (USA), specializing in computer science and blockchain technology.
He is also the founder of the online gaming platform Gameyola, which won the Facebook Fund in 2009. Before the advent of blockchain and Ethereum (ETH), he wrote a thesis on the subject of Smart Contracts in cryptocurrency. Vitalik Buterin, the creator of ETH, was actually a student of Nicolas Kokkalis.
Before implementing the Pi Network project, Nicolas Kokkalis spent several years researching cryptocurrencies
StartX’s investors and partners include Amazon, Google Cloud, GitHub, BREX, DAIKIN, Sumitomo Bank, Silicon Valley Bank, AstraZeneca pharmaceutical company, and more. Stanford University and Stanford Health alone have invested $200 million to sponsor members of the StartX community. In addition to professional activities, Nicolas Kokkalis is also the CTO of StartX, a foundation supporting Stanford students in entrepreneurial ventures. Since its establishment in 2011, StartX has successfully assisted 1,300 startups, including over 700 unicorn companies such as Branch, Lime, Life360, Patreon, Poynt, Kodiak Sciences, and others.
Since 2017, Nicolas Kokkalis has asserted that StartX is expanding its own blockchain accelerator platform, where all StartX incubated projects will become part of the platform. Experts believe that in the future, Pi Network will become the cryptocurrency created for the StartX ecosystem.
On the Pi Network homepage, Nicolas Kokkalis describes himself as follows: ‘I am a strong believer in the technical, financial, and societal potential of cryptocurrency but disappointed with the current limitations of this type of currency. I am committed to bringing the power of blockchain to many by improving the experience and creating value for everyone. I undertake this project with a user-centric philosophy to reverse the development process of new blockchains: Launching in Beta, inviting members into the network, iterating the protocol with those members, and decentralizing the design outcome. The result of that process is Pi Network – a new cryptocurrency and a peer-to-peer network currently operating in over 150 countries and introduced in 32 languages.
You can use Google to verify information about this team. The official website of the Pi Network is: https://minepi.com
The Pi Network differs from some other cryptocurrencies in that it has been created from scratch and is mined differently. When you start mining each day on the Pi Network app, you simply receive a set amount of coins distributed every hour. As the coins are pre-created, your phone doesn’t perform any heavy computational tasks, and the power impact is minimal.
The Pi Network has recently surpassed 29 million users mining Pi regularly every day, an impressive number – more than all other cryptocurrencies combined. So why not be one of those 29 million users and contribute to the increasing number, potentially reaching 100 million or even a billion users? The founding team aims to establish Pi as the first globally accepted mainstream cryptocurrency. The distribution of Pi coins will be based on each time the user base increases tenfold, the mining speed will decrease by half. Therefore, early miners will have significantly more mined Pi compared to those who join later.
The Pi Network was released in late May 2019. After surpassing 100,000 users mining Pi regularly every day, the mining speed was halved to 0.4 Pi/hour. After 1 million users, it will be halved again to 0.2 Pi/hour, and then at 10 million users, it will be halved again to 0.1 Pi/hour, or it might even reach 0.
Is Pi Network a scam?
Based on the research, the answer is definitely no. Since PI doesn’t sell ICO, ITO, IEO, or anything similar, you won’t lose any money.
Just keep earning because it’s entirely free.
Currently, the calculation for mined Pi is F x 25% x 0.20 Pi/h (F is the number of people you refer).
By default, it will be 1 x 25% x 0.20 = 0.05 Pi/h. So, the more referrals (F) you have, the larger the amount of Pi we mine per hour.
Step 5: Then, enter your First Name and Last Name. Make sure to enter your real name for future verification purposes.
For example, if your name is Nguyễn Văn An, then First Name: An, Last Name: Nguyen Van.
Finally, enter your Username (this is the name you’ll use to log in to the Pi Network app, so don’t forget this). After completing all the information, press ‘Submit’ to move on to the final step
Step 6: In the final step, if you don’t have a referral code, you can enter the code dongdk to complete the registration. Pi requires a referral code for registration.
How to get your referral code:
Your referral code is your username that you created. You can review your referral code by clicking on the top-left menu of the app and selecting Profile.
Now, all you need to do is introduce many of your friends so that they can also earn PI, and in return, your F count (referral count) increases, leading to faster mining for you.
How to verify your PI Network account:
In the Profile section, click on VERIFY to proceed with account verification.
There will be two options for confirmation. The first one is to receive a verification code (Only applicable in the U.S. and Canada). The second one is to send a message to Pi Network. You should choose option 2 and press START.
Then, go to Open SMS for Pi Network to compose a four-digit message.
Note that Pi will generate four random digits, and you don’t need to edit anything; just press send.
Since it’s an international message, there will be a sending fee (around 2000 VND).
After sending, instead of the word VERIFY, there will be a green checkmark. This means you have successfully verified your account!
What is the Pi Network Security Circle?
The Security Circle is a group of 3-5 trusted members built by each Pi Network member to prevent fraudulent transaction behaviors.
After 3 days of mining Pi or after mining 3 times, the security circle will be opened. Here, you can add people you trust to mine Pi together more efficiently.
Click on it to add people to your security circle.
Note that you should add from 3-5 people (Maximum is 5 people).

As shown in the figure above, with 3 F (and 1 sponsor), the total amount of Pi Network being mined is 0.4 Pi/hour. Please note that F must mine (click the lightning bolt daily to be eligible for the 25% portion). Currently, Pi only counts up to the F1 level.
Let’s do a simple calculation. Suppose you mine alone without referring anyone, then the amount of Pi you mine is at its lowest, which is 6 Pi/day.
Assuming it gets listed on the exchange (which is imminent, get ready!) and after a period, say a few months or 1-2 years for instance: the price of 1 Pi = $10, a modest figure compared to the current value of Bitcoin at $270 million VND.
Then, your daily earnings would be: 6 Pi * $10 = $60/day. A very attractive figure, isn’t it? That’s assuming 1 Pi = $10, and you haven’t referred anyone to mine with you. If the price of Pi is higher or you have more referrals, your daily earnings will be even higher. You can do the math for yourself! 😀
With just 5 seconds a day to click the lightning bolt in the app, it’s entirely free, and your phone won’t be affected at all. What do you think about that income?
What if the project fails??? => If that’s the case, you only lose the effort and time of 5 seconds a day to click the lightning bolt once. Not much, right?
So, what do you think? Should you join or not? Think about it yourself. Personally, I believe that one day Pi will succeed, and not participating will be a regret for later!!! 😀
So don’t hesitate anymore, join now with over 7 million users regularly mining Pi every day in over 175 countries on the Pi Network (as of the latest update on August 8, 2020). Currently, Pi is still easy to mine, so quickly own your Pi, everyone!
